“Constraints” - Statt Lab Group Exhibition

An exhibition of screen printing and B&W analogue photography from the Statt Lab print community, exploring the constraints that surround us socially, politically, internally and creatively.

19 - 22 June 2025

Opening Times: 18:00 - 22:00

We are presented in current times with many challenges and controversies leading many to feel confused and lost, restrained and constrained. Finding ways to explore these constraints enables the possibility of healthy discussion and reflection.

Restrictions can support the formal creative process, such as Shakespeare using iambic pentameter to create certain rhythms and challenges in creating prose or using the nuances of light leaks in a broken camera or solarised print to create unique qualities in analogue photographs.

These unique qualities create new spaces that contain expressions of the inner journey of the artist. This is an attempt to communicate personal experience, to reach out to others who might relate to the messages embedded in the art work.

Living in a time of great change and uncertainty we choose to face our fears and worries, pains and frustration, hopes and dreams. We invite you to come and celebrate with us as we explore our constraints and embrace them as creative guides.
