sculpture and works on paper by crista siglin
and a collaborative performance/installation with ANASTAVE
remnants and remedies:
is an exploration of the body and the mind’s relationship to environment, trauma, time, and phantasmagoria. this collection of work uses medium as both the means of the work, but also as metaphor; with each grain of charcoal or graphite functioning as a placeholder for an ambiguous moment in time
— now or then or hereafter.
the figures of the drawing and painting compositions are both here and not here, inside and outside simultaneously
— with a sense of conflict and confusion.
what are the figures engaged with each other about?
are they the same figure in transformation?
where are they?
what has happened?
often, this is the psychic space of trauma. the work concerns itself with this space.
moving inside, through, and outside variable mediums; this body of work also approaches installation, with the collaboration of Anastave. the piece, RESIDUAL MOVEMENT consists of film and a time-based generated sonic landscape via drawing. our bodies respond to one another, the space, and in doing so also create an environment of both visual and sonic residue. the residues remain in the space after the performance to comprise a site-specific installation for the duration of the show.
this work asks how interpersonal relationships in the present are indelibly affected by the sediment of the past.
return the earth and the earth / will return you / depth of vision of field of dream / shake in the wait of
