SCOTOPIA
In the study of human visual perception, scotopia is the vision of the eye under low-light
conditions.
The protagonist of the photo series, which evokes a post-apocalyptic scenario, is a survivor
who is found in a lunar location. The environment depicts an environmental disaster or
perhaps a post-war state. The order of the images leads a visual narrative, as if we were
looking into a slice of a sci-fi movie.
The last images of the series are seen through the eyes of the survivor (through the scotopic
glasses). The contrasting inverse images also refer to the weapon known from
hunting/warfare, through which targets appear as glowing phantoms emerging from the
darkness.
The images in the series are unique pieces, after being printed they underwent manual
manipulation in the darkroom.
