The work in Vidam’s new exhibition “Houses” deals with various themes in the Berliner Artist’s direct environment. For one, it depicts the actual houses in his neighborhood: certain buildings jump out at him for different reasons during walks through town. May it be the individual history of the house itself, a certain tenant or simply the pleasing architecture. He has used isometrics for some time to depict the buildings and now combines that with the idea of create a picture within a picture; in this case murals on the walls of the illustrated houses. These murals have their own reasonings: spontaneous inspiration, graphically aesthetic forms, personal pop culture references or through the stories and surroundings of the house itself. 12 ink illustrations, one painting on wood and a screen print will be shown.

Mit der Ausstellung „Houses“, setzt sich der Berliner Künstler Vidam mit diversen Themen seines direktem Umfeldes Auseinander. Da sind es offensichtlich zum einen die Gebäude seiner Nachbarschaft: Bei Streifzügen durch die Stadt, fallen ihm immer wieder besonders reizvolle Gebäude auf, die ihn aus unterschiedlichen Gründen interessieren. Entweder die individuelle Geschichte des Hauses, oder ein bestimmtes Ladenlokal oder einfach nur die reizvolle architektonische Form. Schon lange nutze er die Isometrie um Gebäude so darzustellen und nun verbindet er die Idee, Bilder in Bildern zu erschaffen. Also Gemälde auf den Brandwänden der gezeichneten Häuser. Diese Bilder haben wiederum vollkommen unterschiedliche Hintergründe: Von spontanen Ideen, grafisch reizvollen Figuren, popkulturelle Symbole der eigenen Vergangenheit oder durch die Häuser selbst und deren Umgebung inspirierte Geschichten. Gezeigt werden 12 Tuschezeichnungen, ein Holzgemälde sowie ein Siebdruck zum Thema.


"Happy" - is one of the best ways to mention Vidam - literally as well. Vidam’s smile is infectious when you speak with him and take a viewing to his work. Rather it is Solo work or with others as Collaborations like PEACHBEACH and The Weird - he crushes both. Clean lines, and smooth calming color schemes makes Vidam’s work stand out. Paired with tiny details in to an illustrated micro-universe. Gravity nearly does not seem to exist in his work. Balance within Vidam’s work with characters that are patterned and detailed in their subtle shading but reveals little to no facial features. He makes us all smile and wonder, a point well liked and admired.
